SREL Environmental Outreach Program

In 1991, SREL's Outreach Program was established to disseminate information to the public about the diverse ecological research conducted by scientists at the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory. Today, the Outreach Program continues to provide a great variety of educational materials and services to a wide range of audiences and ages. In general, the Outreach Program attempts to make sure that citizens of the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) and beyond are aware of the rich and diverse ecosystems that make up the Savannah River Site (SRS) and surrounding areas. In addition, the program provides educational information on local plants and animals, habitats, the process of science, environmental chemistry, and basic ecology.

Thanks to all who attended SREL's 3rd annual Touch an Animal Day!

You made it a smashing success.
Over 700 people came out to touch a variety of creatures, including a live rattlesnake.
You can read about it in the Aiken Standard online.
