Dr. Mills' research focuses on the processes controlling the transport and transformations of natural and anthropogenic organic compounds in aquatic and terrestrial environments. Specific research projects have encompassed a broad range of topics in environmental organic chemistry including metal-organic interactions, photochemical transformations in natural waters, abiotic reactions on soil mineral and oxide surfaces and the bioremediation of hydrocarbon contaminants.
