Welcome to the Lance Lab!

Stacey with dipnet in Carolina Bay

Our lab focuses on questions in evolutionary biology, ecotoxicology, and molecular ecology. My research has always been driven by a desire to both preserve variation and to understand the evolutionary factors involved in its maintenance. That interest has led me to study a broad array of questions addressing the evolution of mating systems, conservation genetics, physiological ecology, and phylogeography. More recently, I have been focusing on the impact of environmental and natural stressors on ecology, behavior, and genetics—with a particular interest in sublethal responses and adaptation to stress. Please see the Research page for more specifics about some of our current projects. In addition I direct the Molecular Ecology lab at SREL and we develop genetic markers for the scientific community.
